- this tutorial deals with setting up a TEXT based signature file
(ie - you can also use an HTML file to generate a signature)
- but that requires coding in HTML :-) and can include images if you like
- contact our design team to help you create one
- the result of this tutorial will look something like this :
regards,
:-) Your Name
Your Company Name
phone: 61 8 9xxx xxxx
fax: 61 8 9xxx xxxx
e-mail: username@yourDomain.com.au
web: www.yourDomain.com.au
[ optional slogan like: "save our world - it's the only one with chocolate" :-) ]
- Ok - here goes . . . . .
- open Outlook Express
- click on [ Tools ] - [ Options ]

- you will see this - when you have clicked on the [ Signature ] Tab - # 1
- # 2: put a "tick" in "Add Signature to all outgoing messages..."
- # 3: Click on [ New ] and the file name "Signature #1" will appear in the box
- you can if you want change the name of this signature file " Signature #1 " to anthing you like by clicking the [ Rename ] button and changing the name in the white field on the left - it's up to you - # 4: Now put a "dot" in the field next to " Text under "Edit Signature"
- if you have an HTML file for your signature you need to
- tick the "File" box ! and
- "Browse" for the signature file !
- # 5: Now you are ready to insert the text in the white box
- make sure the first line is a "Spacebar" & "Enter" on your keyboard !! - this gives you a clean line !
- The :-) "smiley" is next (you don't have to use it) with your name behind it - "Enter"
- I generally use 4 hits of the spacebar next to get the indent - the [TAB] key will not work here :-) followed by the Company Name or what ever - "Enter"
- again 4 hits of the space bar and the phone: Number - same on the next line for the fax: number

# 5a: here is another little trick - use about 6 hits of the space bar between the word fax: and the number ! - it nearly lines up the numbers underneath each other :-) - of course you can always put the phone and fax numbers on one line - "Enter" - Next line is for the e-mail address - just type e-mail: and your own address here - the programme will make it a link automatically. - "Enter"
- if you have a website - that's the next line - just make sure you type it with the www.myDomain.com.au and it will be a hotlink to your website ! - if this is the last line - hit the "Enter" one more time or the link may not work ! - "Enter"
- and you can always add a "wise saying" or "quote" on the next line . . .

- make sure the first line is a "Spacebar" & "Enter" on your keyboard !! - this gives you a clean line !
- OK - that's it - # 6: Click on [ Apply ] and/or [ OK ] and you're done
- click on [ Tools ] - [ Options ]
- when you click on the "New Message"
button you will have your Default Signature showing
just make sure you type your message where the curser first lands - ie above the - :-) smiley
